Just how competitive is it in the mileage program credit card arena?
Competitive enough that Bank of America, which issues the Alaska Airlines co-branded credit cards, is offering a 20,000-mile sign-up bonus for newly approved accounts during the month of March.
Cards eligible for the bonus are the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card in the U.S. and the Alaska Airlines Platinum Plus MasterCard in Canada.

Through May 15, SkyMiles members can earn 2,500 bonus miles for every roundtrip Delta flight between Chicago Midway and Atlanta, Boston, or New York, up to a maximum of 10,000 bonus miles for four roundtrips.

Between March 1 and May 31, Marriott Rewards members will earn 2,500 points for the second and every subsequent stay, up to a maximum of 10,000 bonus points, at Marriott, JW Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, TownePlace Suites, Fairfield Inn and Marriott Vacation Club International hotels.
Members must have elected to earn points, versus airline miles, to participate. Registration is required.

Between March 1 and June 30, members of Omni Hotels' Select Guest program will earn triple Delta miles for the second and subsequent qualifying stays at Omni Hotels, up to a maximum of six stays and 9,000 total miles during the promotional period.
According to the Omni website, "Guests must pay a qualifying business rate on at least one night of each stay in order to receive triple miles."

Effective April 1, the oneworld global alliance will add three new airlines: Japan Airlines, Royal Jordanian, and Malev.
As in the programs of other oneworld carriers, mileage earned for flights on the three new member airlines will count toward elite status in American's AAdvantage program. (AAdvantage members already earn base miles for JAL and Malev flights.)
Reminder: effective March 31, Aer Lingus will no longer be a oneworld participant, although they will continue their AAdvantage membership.

Between April 1 and May 31, Mileage Plus members can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles on United's new nonstop flights to/from Rome via Washington, D.C. (IAD). Bonuses are as follows: 15,000 miles for first class (F,A fares), 10,000 miles for business (C,D,Z fares), or 5,000 miles for selected coach (Y,B fares).
