Mileage Plus members' frequent flyer miles no longer expire, "provided you
earn or redeem any amount of miles at least once every 36 months." In other words, any account activity (earning or redeeming miles), with any Mileage Plus partner, extends the life of all your miles for another 3 years.

Purchase price, policy: Miles may be purchased electronically, or in coupon books:
- Electronic Reward Miles are transferred to a specified account in any increment using
your computer and the Internet (allow 10 business days for approval and account
activation). The price per mile is US$0.02, plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax and US$0.001 per mile processing fee
(minimum purchase requirements apply).
- Reward Miles Certificates are awarded in 500-, 1000- or 5000-mile increments (allow
4-6 weeks for approval, processing and printing). The price per mile
is US$0.02, plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax and US$95.00 administrative fee
(minimum purchase requirements apply).
